The government has announced Covid-19 protocols for foreigners vacationing or on a business trip. These measures loom as part of the "new normal" as the country girds to reopen its border in August.
The government requires airline passengers from overseas bound for Mauritius undergo Covid-19 tests three days before their departure. Arvind Bundhun, director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), disclosed this requirement along with other safety measures.
New test lab at airport
Upon arrival at the island’s international airport, local health workers will again test the visitors in a new laboratory there, he added. The passengers shall download an app that shall relay to the test results available in three to six hours.

In addition to these procedures, the MTPA has recommended several safety measures under the “new normal” for the stakeholders of the travel industry. Available online for download, these safety steps include recommendations on disinfection and cleaning as well as social distancing. Also provided are contact-less protocols and options to follow for suspected Covid-19 cases.
A boost from Swiss IT facility

Through this platform, Mauritian airport authorities can quickly verify whether arriving airline passengers are immunized. The system can also check if a passenger has recently undergone any test or other health control measures that authorities have put in place.
